The Shanghai International Professional Apparel Expo, co-hosted by the Textile and Apparel Chamber of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and the Lingshuo Group, will be held in Shanghai this June. After more than two years of exploration and research into both the domestic and international professional apparel markets, and against the backdrop of an increasingly saturated landscape of apparel trade shows nationwide, the expo’s organizing committee has segmented the market and introduced innovative approaches, marking a bold new step with the 2013 Shanghai International Professional Apparel Expo. According to reports, the inaugural event will take place from June 5 to 7, 2013, at the Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center. Upholding the guiding principle of “Setting Industry Standards and Building Global Brands,” the expo will remain firmly centered on the theme of professional apparel, expanding new marketing channels such as group purchasing and custom tailoring, fostering brand development, and driving the growth of the professional apparel sector. The exhibition has received enthusiastic responses from numerous renowned domestic and international brands. Leading apparel names from China, Japan, South Korea, Italy, the United Kingdom, and beyond have eagerly registered to participate. To date, companies including Bosideng, Apple, ASEAN Group, Osdi, Meilan, Jinhai Group, Gaoya, and Teijin have confirmed their presence, while provincial and municipal apparel associations and chambers of commerce from Hunan, Jiangsu, Henan, and other regions are also organizing sizable delegations. Nearly half of the 25,000-square-meter exhibition space has already been booked. Upon learning of the expo’s launch, Japan’s Fiber NEWS promptly reached out to establish a cooperative partnership, planning to bring a delegation of prominent Japanese professional apparel brands to the event. Even amid signs of economic slowdown, the professional apparel expo has proven far more popular than organizers anticipated, with exhibition space expanding to nearly double its original size. As the only specialized international trade show in China dedicated to professional apparel—combining brand building, image presentation, new‑product launches, product promotion, channel development, industry information exchange, and business matchmaking—the Shanghai International Professional Apparel Expo serves as a modern platform for Chinese apparel companies to go global and for foreign brands to enter the Chinese market. The expo has cultivated a comprehensive professional‑apparel value chain, placing particular emphasis on selecting and engaging targeted professional audiences. It provides a cutting‑edge, modern marketplace for government agencies, banks, securities firms, insurers, schools, telecommunications companies, machinery manufacturers, mining enterprises, petrochemicals, construction firms, tobacco producers, real estate developers, and the hospitality sector. This internationally leading, superlative exhibition service model has significantly boosted exhibitors’ confidence and buyers’ satisfaction. This year’s expo features several key highlights. First, its highly professional focus: positioned as a trade show exclusively for professionals, it excludes retail sales and adopts a “three main, one auxiliary” framework to create a truly specialized event. Specifically, it prioritizes attracting mid‑to‑high‑end brand franchisees and facilitating trade negotiations, showcasing brands, and establishing connections with department stores; it actively engages international and domestic designers and brand owners; it supports international brands seeking to expand into the Chinese market; and it offers international buyers a platform to source products. Second, its strong international orientation: the expo invites leading overseas media outlets, government representatives, business networks, foreign embassies and consulates in China, and provincial and municipal chambers of commerce and industry, all working together to position the Shanghai International Professional Apparel Expo as a benchmark for industry trends and developments—a strategic gateway for international brands entering the Chinese market and for Chinese enterprises expanding globally.
