It is particularly well-suited for showcasing spring/summer textiles and plays a pivotal role in the South American textile market. In 2011, the exhibition covered 20,000 square meters and attracted over 500 exhibitors from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, the United States, Mexico, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, and other countries and regions. The event drew 52,000 professional visitors from 39 nations, including 27.39% importers and 75% wholesalers and retailers. By region, attendees were distributed as follows: South America 72.55%, Central America 2.94%, North America 7.84%, and Europe 11.76%. Ninety-eight percent of attendees held purchasing decision-making authority. The fair is exclusively open to professional trade visitors. In 2005 and 2006, it was opened to Chinese companies, allowing them to participate. This exhibition represents an ideal platform for Chinese enterprises seeking to enter the South American market and is also one of Brazil’s largest apparel fairs. Brazilian Market Overview: Brazil is the world’s fifth-largest country, with a population of approximately 200 million. It currently ranks first in South America economically and eighth globally, boasting a per capita income of around US$3,000. Brazil is China’s largest trading partner in Latin America and a key target market for Chinese exporters. São Paulo, Brazil’s largest industrial hub and major textile production center, is also the country’s biggest city—ranked third worldwide—with a population of roughly 17 million. It serves as South America’s financial, commercial, and business capital. An annual specialized textile trade show is held there, primarily catering to domestic buyers and resembling a national goods fair, with an exhibition space exceeding 70,000 square meters. After nearly five decades of growth and development, the fair has evolved into a vital venue for exhibitors to promote and sell export products, stay abreast of global fashion trends, cultivate new clients, and close deals. The textile industry is a cornerstone of Brazil’s economy, having emerged in the early 20th century. Industry insiders often credit the textile sector as the catalyst for Brazil’s broader industrialization. Brazil is among the world’s leading producers of textiles and apparel, ranking second globally in coarse twill fabric production, third in knitted fabrics, and fifth in overall apparel manufacturing (with output surpassing 10 billion pieces in 2005).
